Baton Twirling Annetta Lucero breaks world spin record

One Spin

To do a one spin you have to know how to do a thumb toss and a half flash. First, you should do a half flash to start the move and while you do that you also pull-up so you are standing almost on your toes with your right foot slightly in front of your left foot. Then, you do a thumb toss which should probably be medium-high. While the baton is in the air you then will spin once under the toss by pushing off with your right foot and spinning on your left foot, but make sure you don't wait too long or toss and spin at the same time when you do this move or the baton won't go where you want it to. Also, while you are spinning make sure you are pulled up and your arms and are very close to you and your right foot is pulled in close to your left leg so you will go around faster and once you get better/faster you could be able to do a two spin, which is about the same except you have to toss the baton slightly higher and you have to spin two times under the toss.

Snake Roll/Double Snake Roll

You must be able to do an elbow roll to be able to a snake roll.

To do a snake roll you hold the baton off-center, then while holding your elbow up and moving your baton like you are doing a single elbow roll you let the baton go almost all the way over your elbow. Instead of letting your baton go all the way over you move your arm out like you are shaking someones hand when the baton hits your wrist and make sure you keep your thumb pointed up, but have your hand open until you catch the baton after it rolls down your arm. Make sure you keep you elbow and arm straight when you do this move.

To do a double snake roll you have to be able to do a normal snake roll first. After you do the snake roll you keep your hand out and put your other hand next to it. Then you set the baton on top of your right hand which should be facing down and pull your arm straight in. The baton should still be on top of your hand but under your elbow. Then, you just flick your wrist slightly up and the baton should go over like an elbow roll and you then catch it.

About This Blog

This blog is for majorettes who would like to perfect some moves or learn new ones. You should at least be able to do the basic moves in baton like thumb tosses, rolls, horizontals, figure 8's, etc. You should also have a baton that is the right length which should be about one inch longer than your arm length. (this will help with most of the moves, especially rolls) Also, any of the moves explained here should be done in an open area where nothing will be broken. You need to read the whole post before attempting any of the moves explained here.
